If this is New Delhi, where is Old Delhi?

  New Delhi, India

We had to walk a long distance to get to the terminal for our New Delhi flight, so it was a good thing that we did not have a tight connection. We were not able to check in for our flight at the Lufthansa kiosk or at the departure gate, so we will have to do when we arrive in New Delhi.

We could not find a restaurant, but each gate had a bar. So, I ordered a Frankfurter, potato salad and a beer. Bill was not very hungry, so he had a Magnum ice cream bar and a beer.

We were able to get access to Wifi, so we posted the first blog entry and check email, Facebook, etc.

The line was huge to board the A380, so we waited until most of the crowd boarded, so we did not have to wait very long.

The flight was uneventful and I was able to read a bit and sleep some more. Bill watched some episodes of the Vikings and slept for a while too.

We landed at 1:30 am local time and we were greeted by two things - the smell of burnt garbage that Mia and Eli had described, and a young guy who checked that our luggage had arrived and was booked through to Kathmandu. He also produced our boarding passes for our flight in the morning, but we were puzzled by the time of the flights. The tickets stated 6:50 am, but Bill had received an email a week ago that the flight was delayed until 9:15. He assured us that the flight was as stated on our ticket and then escorted us to the hotel that is located inside the airport.

The guy who checked us in for our room also believes our flight is delayed, but we are going to wake up at 6:00 just in case. It was nice to have a hot shower and get horizontal for a few hours with comfy pillows and a down duvet. The only downside was that despite having 17 switches in the room, we could not shut off the light above the desk. It really did not matter because we were sound asleep in no time.
