On to Borneo!
We spent part of the morning repacking so we only have to pay for one bag on our flights to and from Borneo.
We also had a more leisurely breakfast and I thoroughly enjoyed my Asian selection with teh Tarik and fresh carrot and apple juice. Bill thoroughly enjoyed his omelette, orange juice, croissant and watermelon (yes Mary, some things never change!).
After breakfast, we walked around the park beside our hotel. It has wonderful walking paths (with a padded walkway for runners), a huge play area for kids, beautiful ponds with fountains that are lined with restaurants, so you can enjoy the fountains in the evening when they are all lit up.
After we checked out, we were driven by Henry back to the airport. We arrived with plenty of time, or so we thought. Bill quickly realized that we were at the wrong terminal. KL1 terminal is only for Malaysian Airline and we were flying with Air Asia. We found out that we could take the rail to the other terminal, but did not realize that we needed to pay until we went downstairs. The tram was not very frequent and Bill was told that the next trip would be in 30 min, but would only take 3 min. I had a momentary panic attack and thought we should head back out to catch a taxi.
The attendants assured us that it would only take 10 min longer if we took the tram instead of a taxi, so we waited. As it turned out, the express tram arrived in 20 min and really did only take a few minutes to arrive at KL2.
Once at the correct terminal, it did not take us too long to check our bag and go through security. Our gate was a long walk (eta 20 min according to the signage), but only ended up taking us 10 minutes, including my stop to buy a teh tarik enroute.
We ended up having loads of time, even without the 30 min delay in our departure time. I even began regretting our early arrival at our gate due to the guy two rows in front of us loudly routinely snorting. UGH!
We were fortunate enough to be seated by another 1/2 of a couple that was split up, so when everyone boarded, he abandoned his window seat to move ahead, which left us with a window and middle seat and an empty aisle seat. Hurray!
After Bill had a nap and I got up-to-date with the blog, we watched episodes of Mrs Maisel.
Jesse picked us up at the airport and it was a short drive to Sepilok Nature Resort. It was already dark, so we did not get a good view of anything. We checked into our beautiful cabin and headed back to the lobby for dinner.
We enjoyed sitting outside by the water listening to the frogs while having our coconut milk prawns and satays. For dessert we had sago (that was not exactly the same as our cooking class) and phyllo wrapped bananas with ice cream.
We headed to bed early so we can wake up with the birds and sun!
