Lunchy Lunchy
Zanzibar, Zanzibar Archipelago, Tanzania
January 05, 2016I was determined to get us some lounge chairs today, so grabbed some of out things and towels and deposited them on three chairs by the beach around 8:30.
After breakfast, we spent most of the day on the beach under the shade and good breeze off the ocean. Karen and I walked along the sandbar for a while, but were taken off course while avoiding the people taking kite surfing lessons. We ended up having to swim a short distance back to shore, but I guess that was better than avoiding the pesky vendors on shore!
After lunchy Bill had a nap in the room and watched some prime 80's shows like Knight Rider, Karen and I did some reading and I also worked catching up on the blog. I had taken notes for every day on Kili and am now catching up Beach Bunny #1.
Karen and I checked out the souvenir huts on the beach, but did not buy anything and soaked up more of the sun and warmth. After 17:00 we headed up to one of the bar areas to play some cards. A bit later Bill joined us and was beating us pretty handily.
Bill was feeling so confident in his card playing abilities and decided to up the ante from regular rummy to gin rummy. That was a mistake because the girls whooped him good! He had -65 points, Karen had 75 points and I had 175 points. His cockiness fizzled, so we quit and went for dinner at the buffet.
It was a good night for the buffet because most of the food was grilled fresh out by one of the pools. The entertainment was a live band and it was OK, but most of the music selection is from several decades ago. Maybe it caters to the European clientele that are here. The beach vendors keep asking me if I am from Germany, so I would assume that is where most of the guests are typically from.
