Lots of Walking in Spain

We did not have a tour booked for the day, so everyone was left to their own devices.

Bill and I decided to go ashore to explore on our own, Lou and Barry decided to stay on board and enjoy the pool, Norm and Marlene decided to talk the shuttle to the older area of the city.

After disembarking Bill and I walked over 4km to the castle on the top of the hill in 36 degree weather. We were super sweaty, but I was really glad to get some exercise again. The castle itself was pretty boring, but the views of the port and city were fantastic.

We headed down the hill and toward the old city. Before we reached the touristy area we stopped at La Chica de Santa Catalina for a bottle of Rose, amazing octopus and the charcuterie platter - all so good!!

We then carried on along the waterfront, through some of outdoor shops, on our way to the Cathedral. We stopped at the Mercantile building, in Gothic style, to take some photos, arrived at the Cathedral to find out that there are no tours after 2pm on Saturday.

We carried on walking through the old city trying to find other churches to explore, bought a Spain Starbucks mug while Bill bought some very tasty gelato. We were able to do a tour of one church where the organist was practicing and I ended up crashing a wedding in order to take some photos of a really beautiful church (and Bill cowered outside the whole time because he thought I would get thrown out).

We ended up taking a taxi back to the ship in order to make it back for our dinner reservation with Lou and Barry at Taste, since Norm and Marlene we doing the makeup dinner at The Brazilian restaurant.

We waited for Sean in the Atrium to do “themes”, but he was a no show. So we made our way into Howl and the Moon for dueling pianos and had a very entertaining evening.
