Set Sail
We had breakfast at our Casa and left by 8:30. We followed the directions from the lady we booked the tour with until we were out of Trinidad (go right), then we were lost. We toured La Boca for a bit, then at 8:45 (when we should have been at the marina) stopped to ask two guys loading kayaks onto a van. Thankfully the one guy understood us and told us to stay right in La Boca, follow the road by the Sea back toward Trinadad, go past the hotels and then stay to the left for the marina.
We arrived just after 9:00 and everyone was still there. YAY!!!
There were 60 people on the catamaran and we were one of the last couple to board The Love Boat. We moved to the front and early on decided to stretch out on the netting at the bow. What a great accident/decision! We did not get splashed too frequently and when the sun was out, it was perfecto!
At the island the non-snorkels were dropped off and the rest of us went on the other side of the island and anchored. We grabbed some crappy masks and snorkels and flippers and jumped in. We saw some amazing coral, plant life (like palms), big fish, little fish, yellow and black striped fish, bright purple/blue fish, leopard looking fish, gray with yellow belly fish, and a few dozen more kinds of fish. The dive was less than 30 minutes, we reboarded and headed back to the island.
It was lunchtime when we arrived. We were served paella, potatoes and pea salad, cucumbers, and fresh fruit. And of course lots of rum and cervacas. During lunch we were entertained by iguanas and crabs that were skuttling around behind the food hut Lunchtime Visitor. We tried to feed our lunch companion a pea from my plate and he scoffed at it, but a smaller crab sidled up and ate it up.
After we ate, we took a short walk in from the beach, but did not see much. When we walked along the beach we saw a few small yellow birds that looked like male and female finches. I enjoyed trying to take a good photo of them.
A while later we took a walk in the waters along the beach and had a short rest. We headed back to the main area so we could be one of the first on the catamaran. We wanted to have the same seats that we had on the way to the island. It will be great to stretch out in the sun and we will be out of the wind on the way back.
Our strategy worked out and we had great seats. What we did not expect with our great seats was a front row seat to two vacation romances Our Catameran. One between the Argentinian girl and German boy and the other between an Argentinina and a boy from somewhere in Europe... Let's just say, things got real friendly real fast!
Back to reality - we hopped into the car and headed back to Trinadad. We stopped for gas and headed back toward the city, more or less. After a few wrong turns, we arrived back at our place and refreshed before heading out for the evening.
We went back to La Parranda first. We had a couple of drinks, an amazing lobster appetizer, squash soup, salad and then a really fantastic spit roasted pork with rice and beans. It was sooooo good!!
After the great food and music, we headed to El Ricon de Pedrito for a drink and some music before heading home because we had a long day. Sadly the band took 30 minutes to set up and still had not started playing. I was ready to lay down on our picnic table bench and was able to convince Bill to let me go to bed while he enjoyed another drink and cigar on our balcony.
