Impressions of Bangkok
Bangkok, Thailand
March 08, 2009
A couple of notes we made while in Bangkok:
It seems that half the people we ran into were nice, the
others - scammers.
In some areas of town the old ways do not want to give into
the new
It was very busy - tons of traffic - we escaped into a Wat
or the rooftop of our hotel
The cabbie's don't talk the best English but they get you
there
Its real hot - don't come in the summer
Very little begging
No wasted space - very industrious, hard working
The translation of street names is hit or miss in the guide
books
We ran into conflicting info/descriptions at the museums
(again probably translation issues)
Tuk Tuks are annoying - try to walk against traffic - it cuts
down on being hassled
PeePee Park - lots of homeless staying there - smells pretty
bad
Not an abundance of tissues, napkins TP and the like - bring
some with you
Unless you like frizzy hair bring a hair dryer and curling
iron
