The Tattoo
We all had great sleeps and are adjusted to the timezone.
The goal of the day was to have a flight of whisky at The Black Cat on Rose Street. The only method of cooking food there was a deep fryer, so no great lunch options for me. On the way I did some shoe shopping at Clark’s and after lunch Sheila bought at pair at Rogerson. Everyone is happy. Missions accomplished. The rest of the day is all gravy.
Doug has decided to drink more water. He is going to order an eye dropper when he gets home. Huh?!?
We headed back toward the Royal Mile and had lunch at The Devil’s Advocate.
Bill is counting at lunch (shocking I know). We have been in Scotland for 31 hours so far Bill and Doug have had 22 different Scotches (and counting).
After our late lunch we headed back to our place to freshen up and have a nap. We picked up some provisions - scotch, gin, beer, ice and crisps, along the way.
We had an early dinner at Monteiths. It was another great recommendation from our hosts. We really enjoyed the pork belly and Sheila’s cod was excellent.
Bill and Doug lost me when we arrived at the Tattoo. Luckily Shiela found me on the way back from the toilet and knew where our seats were.
We had great seats in the middle of the arena. I remember the Tattoo as being amazing and one of the highlights of our honeymoon. The show this year was even better. We thoroughly enjoyed the performances and the 90 mins went by in the blink of an eye. Some of the highlights were the Swiss drummers, an American military band that did a medley of songs, the American Air Force group that did a routine with their rifles, the Highland dancers that made several appearances, the Kiwis who did a medley of songs and a short Hakka, and a modern bag pipe and fiddle band.We could not get into the pub that we had selected in advance so we opted to head back to our place had have some of our drinks, snacks, and play cards. Sheila finally defeated us at 1am and we crashed for the night.
